David Mark Bulley has recently released his video for “Where Do We Go from Here”. The Electro-Pop tune has a pretty intense Purge meets Twilight music video. David Mark Bulley is a singer-songwriter out of the London area and has quite a large fan base that stretches worldwide. I was so intrigued with him after watching the music video, I found some of his old YouTube videos and totally fell in love. It is awesome to see unsigned artists take charge of their music and David Mark Bulley is doing a great job at staying true to his sound while growing as a musician. Check out the music video to “Where Do We Go from Here” below!

THIS GIRL IS FIYAH!!!!! Ravyn Lenae is an R&B singer out of Chicago and she is bestowing many blessings and eargasms. I heard “Free Room” for the first time yesterday and in the first 10 seconds, I was HOOKED! Her lyricism is out of this world. Spitting poetry-like verses over electric soul beats, she pulls you in with her unique sound. It is also mind blowing to know that she is a HIGH SCHOOL student! Ravyn Lenae is making some big moves under her label, Atlantic Records, recently dropping her newest EP “Midnight Moonlight” earlier this year. Be on the lookout for more music from Ravyn Lenae. Her music can be heard on Spotify.

Frank Ocean recently released “Chanel” and I was so confused! I guess this speaks more on my financial status ( LOL) . So my original introduction to this song was a text from a friend of mine . She sent “Well I see on both sides like Chanel” …… WTF DOES THAT MEAN ?! So i looked up the lyric and found out that Frank Ocean dropped a WHOLE song! Ever since, it has been on repeat faithfully. I just became
a Frank Ocean fan with “Pink + White” ( Yes I’m BeyHive , don’t do me) , so I am fairly new to this fandom. He has an interesting sound. It is familiar in a way because as innovative as his beats and concepts are, musically and visually, it feels like something that has been done before. Yet the complicated part is , I can never pinpoint exactly who Frank Ocean reminds me of. Which is GREAT! Because that sets him apart from the past, the present and the future. He samples and features but makes it his own, to fit the mold of his artistry. I am very excited to see what this year holds for him because he is off to an amazing start. You can find “Chanel” on Spotify.
SideNote: I get the reference
The “Worldwide Underground ” album by Erykah Badu is one of the most influential albums to my music library. I grew up on the funky, soulful and smooth vocals of Badu , and was recently reminded of just how DOPE this album is. This album is where Erykah Badu comes into her own. Her sound is stronger. Her music is edgier. She embodies all of the eccentricity that is Badu. I love this album because it is one that can be listened to straight through. The production is amazing and each song flows right into the other making more of an experience as a whole. Not just bouncing song to song.
This post is the brief overview to the YouTube commentary video that will be up THIS FRIDAY . So be on the look out !
